Biography

Ukrainian pianist Kyrill Korsunenko Born in Odessa, the city of huge pianistic traditions, Kyrill Korsunenko started playing piano at the age of six. He received his musical education at the Stolyarsky Special Music School, Odessa National Music Academy A.V.Nezhdanova, the Cologne University of Music under the supervision of such professors as Igor Sukhomlinov, Pawel Mulyar, Andreas Frölich, Cynthie van Eijden. He was studying with Eliso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Italy).

Kyrill Korsunenko has performed extensively as recitalist, chamber musician, concerto soloist and author of his own compositions throughout Europe, in many prestigious concert halls. Highlights include venues like Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Odeon Zwolle (concert series „New Masters On Tour“), Auditorio de Zaragoza, the Philharmonic halls of Odessa and Kiew, Real Maestranza (Sevilla), the Great Assembly Hall of the University of Munich and Herkulessaal in Munich. He has worked with conductors including Hobart Earle, Alois Rottenaicher, Natalia Ponomarchuk, Enrique García Asensio, Guillaume Berney, Alexander Hülshoff, Stefan Immler. Especially significant among his variuos artistic activities were concerts with ensemble for contemporary music „B-Sight“, jazz/electronic music project „Deliniris“ and actual collaboration with Flamenco-Project „Los amores del Brujo“ .

The critics define her as a mature, warm and powerful artist with a remarkable virtuosity, never an end in itself.

He was honored with prizes and special awards in more than a dozen national and international competitions. He was winner at Compositores de España Piano Competition (Madrid), Livorno Piano Competition, MozARTe Piano Competition (Aachen), Steinway Piano Award (Düsseldorf). He got also Second Prize at Piano Competition in memory of Emil Gilels (Odessa) and Third Prizes by „Maria Herrero“ (Granada) and „Cidade de Ferrol“ Piano Competitions.

A frequent guest on broadcasting networks, he has appeared with live concert on WDR3 radio station (Cologne) and on other national television and radio stations of Germany, Netherlands and Ukraine. During pandemic years he was elaborating different streaming projects, that appeared on YouTube as well as his studio recording of Bach’s Goldberg-Variations. In this years music of J.S.Bach is being more and more accentuated in the extensive repertory of Kyrill Korsunenko. During active phases of the war in his homeland in 2014 and 2022 Kyrill playes a lot of charity concerts to support Ukraine.
